If I'm not wrong, there are T4 tubes. These should suit the length you're looking for. You could also pop by Nature Aquarium(opp. Thomson Medical Centre), they've got an 18W(2 x 9W)PL light set that you can use. Although I would suggest you switch out the lights to 2 x 13W instead. I find the lights, as they are(2 x 9W), aren't really adequate.
Has anyone seen a 36W PL light set for use on a 1ft cube before?
    Call me Brian.

P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

It's a fixed light set, not a clip-on lamp. It think it's an Ocean Free set, if I'm not wrong. Sorry, no pics.
I don't think 26W is too much for a 1ft cube, I've seen 1ft cubes with a lot more light than that... I think the highest I've seen is one with 108W(3 x 36W).

tks Brian! I went down to NA and got myself the 1ft 2x9w set u mention. Pretty neat set. decided to keep to 2x9w for the time being as i dun wana boil my shrimps & my plants are not v. high light demand. Somemore the cube is meant to be low maintenance....ie non-co2 & no fan/chiller.
Now my cube is looking bright & cheery!
    tks!
