    Jade,

You should cover your cichlid tank. They are quite territorial and strong, so if a chase or fight begins, one of them is bound to jump to when they get cornered.

You don't have to cover the whole tank. Just the sides. Most fishes jump when they reach the walls/corners and up is the only way to 'run'.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

actually under most circumstances cichlids dont jump, unless the situation in the tank is Really tense and the fish is very jumpy.

douglas how big is your tank?
what are the numbers and size of the fish inside?

your frontosa, are they are normally found kind or the "one up" variants like zaire blue?

    btw frontosas are tangayikans!

    douglas........
    red alert!!

too small tank, too many fish, and you have fish that should not belong there too .

I have a strong feeling your front was badly bullied and chased by the convicts and perhaps the electric yellows.

fronts really need their own space...not only for the size they can grow but they are also relatively laid back. So if badly crowded with a lot of quarellsome fish it can be stressful for them

from the gallery your fronts look like the "normal" ones. Just remebered art told me you got them quite cheap so it should be.

spread out the fish...and they will quit jumping

they are not like many other africans (eg malawi pseudotropheus) that can really squeeze in relatively small space..

fronts like more quiet environment, space.
this is how fish like fronts should be spaced...In this tank, i had 3 6" young oscars and one 10" male jaguar.
this tank is a 4x2. You should aim for minimum this size to house 4 or 5 fronts more comfortably in the longer run.
As they grow, you really dont need anything else in the tank to look beautiful....let the fish be the focal point

I also kept cichlid before. last time bred jewel cichlid, convict, also kept severum, oscar, jumbo angels, tilapia, firemouth, flag. very lovely creatures...now i will only keep if got 4 feet tank minimum, but no space (and $$$). will do southamerican underwater woody biotype with severum, acaras and eartheaters (mixed with suckercatfish).
