Dosage for ADA liquid Fertilizer

Is there a dosing instruction for ADA's Green Brighty Step-1?

I am not able to find it. Thanks!

Dear Nicky,
The instruction can be found under the ADA Aquarium maintenance.

As quote, Step 1 is used from the third week to the fourth month of tank setup. Dosage as per 3 times weekly (1ml per 20L).

For the first three weeks of a new tank, only use Brighty K and Green Bacter to stablise the new tank. Use Step 1 after the third week if there is no algae. If there is appearance of algae, do not add STEP 1.

strangely..the dosage is different on this site than from the japanese instructions that comes with the package..

Yes, the instruction found on the STEP 1 instruction manual is slightly different.

Quote: provide 1 push (1ml) for each 20ml of aquarium water, everday. Ideally, you should increase the supply gradually depending on the amount of nutrients your aquatic plant requires.

This instruction is not wrong. However, in most cases, our tank did not reach the planting intensity as recommended. This can lead to over- fertilization. So it is recommended to add the STEP-1 3 times a week.

The instruction found in ADA aquarium maintainance manual gives a overall and complete picture on which fertilizer to add at the critical moment.

Maybe, i add on to point out an important issue- GH and KH value.

ADA recommended a KH (3-4) and GH (6-8 ) for aquatic planting. However, in Singapore, our tap source is too soft (hardness level) near 0. It is unsuitable for planting in most cases. Without sufficient hardness, the plants are unable to fully utilize the fertilizer added.

In taiwan and japan, the scenario is the opposite. Their water source, in most cases is hard - GH (15-16), KH (8-10). They need to soften their water. Most oversea hobbyist does by using ADA softenizer and mixed water tap source to get the correct water hardness. Through this, they are able to achieve great result using ADA products.

However, in Singapore and part of america, where our water source can be soft, we need to increase the hardness level.

Usually, i recommend hobbyist to use EIHO PLANT HARDNESS during water change and tank setup. It safely adjust the hardness value and also add trace elements to the desired amount.

I hope this can help to answer some question hobbyist have on the water hardness.
