Have not even got one nannacara before i think i'll stay focus on apisto first, still not quite stable with them. Hoping to be better in the near future.

Hi guys,
I think some of us might confuse this fish with Nannacara aureocephalus or Nannacara sp. Mana in Stawikowski & Werner's (1998 ) book "Die Buntbarsche Amerikas Band 1". To add to the confusion, it has also be listed as Nannacara aff. taenia (due to the series of reddish brown stripes seen on Nannacara taenia) and Nannacara aff. aureocephalus amongst others.Originally Posted by www.aquariumglaser.de
Mike Wise did mention that the Nannacara sp. Sourourou resembles a color morph of Nannacara aureocephalus and could well be a variant of the latter. Incidentally, both species are from the same location - Crique Sourourou in French Guiana. The main difference between the two is that Nannacara sp. Sourourou has more dark mottling on the face where as Nannacara aureocephalus has a more uniformly gold colored face. Also, Nanncara sp. Sourourou can show a series of reddish brown stripes accross the body, similar to those seen on the flanks of Apistogramma sp. aff. agassizii Tefé and Nannacara taenia.
When kept in cativity, hobbyists reported that visible difference between this specimen and Nannacara aureocepalus is not distinguishable. As such, there is a tendency to lean towards labelling this fish as Nannacara sp. aff. aureocephalus "Soumourou" (locality variant) rather than an independent species until more detailed examination of it distribution in relation to Nannacara aureocephalus can be done and possibly cross breeding experients. Don't expect an answer anytime soon.
In any case, I do think it's a beautiful fish and very similar to two pairs that I acquired last year from Hong Kong. However, the fish passed on in my friend's holding tank before it could be transfered to my tank. I only have Nannacara anomala left at the moment. Shame. Right, yorky?
By the way, has anyone seen or kept Nannacara bimaculata, Nannacara quadrispinae or Nannacara taenia?
Cheers,

I wonder if such fishes will reach our shores..
Those of you who have kept the Nannacara Anomala will find this fish very interesting in character and when they are in breeding colours, very beautiful.
I would like to try my hands on Nannacara Taenia, Quadrispinae, Aureocephalus. Collective order possible?

I did get you several species of Nannacara!! Seems like Nannacara adoketa is all that you are left with now.Originally Posted by yorky
