Just got one male and three female kribensis. They are on the youngish side. Do these breed readily and what conditions will help them along? Thanks.

For a start, what type of tank setup do you have? Perhaps a brief description?

I have seen them being rather comfortable in setups similar to those of South American Dwarf Cichlids. Soft water, slightly acidic, plenty of hiding space. Good water.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

I have a pair of Pelvicachromis taeniatus 'dehane' in a 2 footer..... with caves, java ferns, nanas and driftwoods. Lots of dark areas and ketapang leaves to soften and darken the water.

These fishes breed quite easily when a pair is formed....very interesting fishes to keep!

Although they prefer soft acidic water, they`re not too fussy. Mine breed at ph 7.8, gh and kh of 12. You`ll need to remove the other females once a pair forms.

After about a month, they feel the fry should find somewhere else to live and will spawn again. They rarely eat them. They just try to push them out.

    Hi guys
    I'm new to the forum
I have 3 breeding pairs of kribs , they do very well in the breeding area but
the fry tend to die off 1 by 1 . I found my tanks were abit cold +- 25 c , could that be the problem ?

25 is fine. Mine can get down to 16-17 at night in the winter.

I`d say they re probably starving. What are you feeding them?
