Newly scaped tank for 2006. Still running the tank to get the parameters right. Maybe bros/sis out there can give some advise on how to improve the setup.

What is your theme? I cannot see the focal point or the objective of your expression. You should consider what kind of image you want to convey to your viewers. Learnt this from a graphic designer when she saw my tank, change my perception of aquascaping totally.

Wow you caught me there and then. Lost for words. And it really set me thinking. How would you suggest i can improve the scaping?
That was a good piece of advise. Will take note of it in my future scaping. And now you make me feel like doing a rescape again

One of my major inspiration is nature itself. Envision what it is like looking at bank of a stream underwater or from a lagoon near a waterfall. Then use the constraints of your current tank, your plants, fishes and filter to think which scenario would best suit your material at hand, visa versa (of cause the other way means more money spent).

Garden style is the easiest where you can showcase with foreground, midground and background plants just like a garden.

No aquatic scape is complete without a hardscape, meaning you need driftwood or rocks to give backbone and definition to your scape. Plants are too "soft" for that, unless you're going to scape the Dutch way. From the plants you have, looks like you can try for a South-East Asian look. Try going to greenchapter.com for ideas, or looking through pictures in magazines like Asian Geographic.

Fish are also a essential part of a scape. As for now, I suggest you get a good peice of driftwood first. The ones in LFSes are no good, you have to go to the local plant farms to get your peices.

there is a nice feel of depth that you've created.

The java fern(?) at the front left looks too blocky. You have some stem plants at the front right, try replacing them with hardier plants that can remain that height would be good. how about cryptocoryne wendtii green?

Thanks for the advise. Will look in to those points and improve on it. Mean while tank has become cloudy after all the scaping and fooling around with the plants. Will need to run the tank for a while before i can do anyting next.
