I had previously used OceanFree A-Z Super Beneficial bacteria to jump start my FW tanks.
According to the usage instruction it is supposedly can be used for SW too.
is it advisable to add some into my newly setup SW tank [just sand only].

    Hi Peter,

One of my friend Edwin used market prawns if I remember correctly. Seems to work fine, especially if it's just sand only at this point in time.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

If you plan to cycle the tank, it is advisable to cycle it with the addition of live rock.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.

Hi peter, are you on DSB or undergravel?
Think you should bury the prawn in the substrate...

Actually, a very small piece is needed. IF the foul smell gets to strong, juz proceed to do water change.

    Cheers

Sure if u can tolerate the smell. But try to get the LRs asap. Cos they are where the bacteria will be "housing" in. Since most LRs in LFS are un-cycling, u will get another ammonia spike when u add them in.

I beleive some of the aerobic bacteria do stay in the sand bed but if u are using a DSB, it will mostly only anaerobic bacteria.
