Given the current dwarf cichlid "network" in Aquatic Quotient, I don't think it's too much of a problem anymore. The restriction is usually the budget these days.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Cheers,

Strongly agree with what benny has got to say, its' more of a budget and space issue rather then availability.
    Cheers!

Hi Outspoken, there are quite a number of Ap. Mendezi owners in Singapore actually.. in fact, one of the guys here just bred it..
Maybe he will be selling the young fish in 3months?

I don't think at present, anybody wants to let go of theirs.
You might have better chance when the offspring grows up.
I am not sure if any LFS is bringing Mendezi in.
    I sure hope they do!

    Outspoken, congrats.
Uapesi is not an easy fish to spawn!
Would you like to share with us your tank parameters?
It's NOT "Chee lick", NOT "Chee Chee Licks"!!! Cichlids is pronounced as "Sick Lids"!!!!!

    Hmm yorky hope this help..
my tank is only 8"cube tank.
    gravel is Ada amazonia.
    filteration is just sponge filter.
1 DW with taiwan moss.(messy cos the female redeco it,dun want to disturb)
Ph is about 5~5.5(dun know about KH etc cos i never used them before)

im quite surprised that they still manage to breed in a 8"cube tank cos uaupesi is quite a large apisto.once i saw the female attacking the male,i remove the male(made a mistake..didnt notice i drop too much melafix on the temp tank holding the male)..male die already..so didnt expect any fries but suddenly they appear with the female.

Hope they can grow bigger before removing them into my fries tank.

Amazing, such a small tank and yet manage to get a spawn! Hats off you. If only the pair were some fierce type, it'll be very deadly.

I think it's okay if you don't use BBS since your tank do have micro food for the fries to feed on.

Growth will be a tad slower if you depend heavily on such food but it'll be easier. Another point to note is that the female is still around if not the fries might be lost in what to eat.

    Congrats !
    Cheers!

    Congrates Bro on your breeding.
Keep us update on the growth on your uaupesi fries.
We probably can exchange some fries when they are bigger to avoid inbreeding.
