Hi! Thinking of getting the Resun 1/2 Hp model for my 622....... now in the process of getting the cabinet finalised. I will need some actual dimensions and the position of the air flow in/out to customise my cabinet for it.
Anyone who owns this model care to share?

    Thanks!

    did some research:

    C0500

    cooling capacity
10 degree cooling up to 450 gallons.
30 degree cooling up to 240 gallons.
    Hose connections
    3/4" PCV in/out connections
    Flow
    500gph minimum
    size
    15"L x 19.5"W x 15.5"H

    CL650

    cooling capacity
10 degree cooling up to 180 gallons.
30 degree cooling up to 100 gallons.
    Hose connections
    1/2" or 5/8"
    Flow
    600gph minimum/1000gph maximum
    size
    11.5"L x 15"W x 17"H

    =================================================

My question here will be which one is more suitable for my 6x2x2 planted tank aiming to achieve 25-26 degrees celsius. I have problem interpreting and correlating the above specs to my tank requirements.....

One consideration is the size... must fit in my 6X2 cabinet taking into consideration the doorway access..... another will be noise....

    Thanks!

I was told that the CL-650 is just nice for a 422 tank.

1 cm allowance is not sufficient for proper cooling of the chiller. your chiller will most likely run hot and may prevent you from from achieving the desired temperature. worst case scenario will be premature failure due to excessive heat.

if there are headroom for the chiller, you may want to add some fans to the ventilation louvres to draw warm air out from the chiller. add some fans to draw warm air out from chiller cabinet.

I am intending to have all 4 front doors in louvre style. The chiller will be placed in the 2nd compartment (so as not to be just next to the side panel). The rear panel will be opening big ventilation slits since cannot be seen anyway. The cabinet/tank will be having almost 2inch gap from the wall for the tubes and skirting allowances. Depending on how the actual setup presents, i may add a small AC fan within the cabinet to push the air circulation..... will this be enough?

I've read from our local marine forum( Sgreefclub or Absolutereef ) that the hot air that comes out from the C0500 is quite large in volume. I do not know whether the small gap that you have is practical. I strongly advise to place this chiller outside of the cabinet.

hmmm... guess i will try squeezing it in after the cabinet and chiller is purchased..... if it is too much of a squeeze with builtup of the heat, i will consider putting the chiller out side...anyway c0500 looks pretty aesthetically pleasing .....CL650 is another story althogether

I am also thinking of getting my cabinet maker to custom a well ventilated cover for the chiller which will function as a foot stool for my tank maintenance!

Sorry not to spoil your mode. My last chiller was 1/2 HP (Hailea) and under my 2 x MH 150W, after water change around 28 deg . It took few hours (5-6 hours if I remembered correctly) to chill down the tank to 25. On top of that you are putting the chiller inside the cabinet and efficiency will also reduce.

Right now my 1 HP Hailea chill 0.1 deg in 1 min.

    So think carefully !

I'm using C0500 for my tank (~800l) using T5HO. Its will run for ~30mins every 3hr or so.

Thanks! will take that into consideration!
But since i am using T5 and not MH.. so i guess the chilling is less tedious right?

So from the pic.... the front is the air intake and the rear is the hot air output?
What is the internal dimension of your C0500? From the picture seem like a bit different from the usa version right?
