Different form of BBA/staghorn. I had it just a few days ago. What I did was to trim off every leaf affected by this algae (even one or two strands counts), increase, revise and check my CO2 injection method, do a large water change and starts things off from there. Your fert regime has to be good too.

The main culprit is CO2. In your case you'd be better off throwing away the affected plants and buying new ones.

Er, no not exactly. Imho my Yamatos didn't touch them. So I trimmed off everything, cleaned up everything as best as I could, and start afresh.

Alternatively you can do what I did.... pull/scrape/peel out the algae by hand (if it pains you to yank and throw the entire plant away). What Terence mentioned is very true, CO2 injection has to be revised as well as your fert regime.

Yamatos/SAE/Otos do not chew on such algae from what I know... they tend to skip it entirely. Better clear it soon cos I had one strand of that algae that grew to about 10+ cm... freaky when you yank it out.

Looks good. With enough plant mass, good use of CO2 and regular maintainence, your tank should be algae-free.
