i'm posting a couple of pics of this fish, i got them yesterday at a friends fish shop, he said this was a first import of this fish in the UK, i have seen similar fish but they've been contaminants, i know a little about this genus of fish but there's not much interest for this fish with it being pretty bland-looking,i have an educated guess that it might be O. cotio ? but thats only a guess so if you have some info i'd appreciate it thanks.
btw have a close look at the pattern on the fish it's similar to a piece of graph paper
    cheers mick

Hi Mick, thanx for posting. I linked in your larger pix so everyone can see easily. BTW the fish has been identified as Osteobrama cotio by Khun Tony over at petfrd.

    * I edited the title for you too*
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Nice fish.. haven't seen this around here, not myself at least..

not only is the scale pattern unique... i also think the head pattern is different..
