You can get tanks very cheaply... Less than 30 bucks you should be able to get one.. The expensive thing is the cabinet... If you want cheap, just get a steel stand... Else would need to ask the forumers to suggest cabinet makers...

I seriously don't think you can get a cabinet for less than $200. But you can still try. You tried asking C328? Mrs Toh quoted me $4xx for a 4ft cabinet. Maybe it can be $200 or less for a 2ft cabinet...

I am also looking for one 2 feet by 1 feet cabinet, but second hand one.
Good Luck for your search.
If you want customised cabinet only at good price, you can forget about LFS. They "tax" the end product too...Originally Posted by tankspecs
What about furniture shops? For a 2x1 feet tank, the cabinets found in furniture shops should be strong enough to hold all the weight right?
I dun quite agree with you on this bc most of the cabinet sold in the furniture shops are made of compress wood due to its light-weight and price. Be careful on choosing the cabinet if you are going to get it from there. Go for plywood or solid wood.Originally Posted by valice

I have a 2ft Five Plan tank on a table bought from Ikea!
Think the table is made from compressed chipwood!
Been there for months liao!
So far so good!
Not giving problems yet!
IMO, those cabinets sold in furniture shop should be able to take the weight of a 2ft tank as it is not too heavy (<70kg)!
However, when it comes to properties (water resistance) of the cabinets, then its a different story!
If you have to buy from furniture shops, like wat Billy mentioned, go for teak or Chengal, and those that have stable stands!
I am now also looking for 2ft cabinets/tables instead of my original 4ft idea. As I need one that is 14" wide only, I have to have it custom made. I will update the price once I settle the deal.

Another option you can consider is getting those wrought iron stand, silicon/glue formica on it to make it look like cabinet ... you can take a reference from Teo's 9 footer...Originally Posted by Justikanz

I never realised Teo's is a iron stand made to look like a cabinet!... Hmm...

Hi everyone, went down to c328 today and got quotation form auntie it's very good thinking of going down to cr aquarium tomorrow to take a look. those interested to get the cabinet can order from auntie. She told me that the cabinets will arrive on tues.
I agree on not using compressed chip wood cabinets. years ago my tank housed on a tv cabinet leaked and the cabinet started peeling. It was a scary experience
And by the way Justikanz can you PM me on where u got your quotation? I would like to take a look. Thanks...

Ahem... Same as yours... We usually do not reveal prices and shops like this...
Just a note: Most shops do not like us to reveal prices openly on the net. Their suppliers may not like their quoted prices...

Heh heh... Yes, they are but openly declaring on the Net is a different subject. Anyway, I think I need 2 of the cabinets! Maybe we can do a mass order and see if we can push the price lower!
