    Sigh... Day 3...

Found 2 dead shrimps this morning. mainly due to filter breakdown...

    BUT...

I found a lot of shrimplets around the driftwood, 15-20 of them. Yipee!
Do this shrimplets need any special care?

Now I think I know why they multipy so fast compare to the rest... since they give birth to shrimplets. Used to think they lay eggs like the rest.

btw, I cheated a bit, when i bought the shrimps, they are already pregnant, heehee

    cheers

Ha it's been a week since I started this tank. and there's a lot of shrimplets swimming around. but the mother shrimps now only left 7 out of 11. I guess should be considered quite ok right?

I'm thinking of adding other shrimps with the cherrys, which shrimp would be more compatible with it? Will there be any problems to mix with other shrimps or should they be left alone?

No problem mixing it with malayan or bee shirmps as they don't cross breed. However, I believe there is a population thresholds to watch out, too many shirmps in a small tank may be a problem. Anyone know the ratio or guideline?

Hmm... My shrimp tank is also around that temperature and so far all my Tiger & Bees shrimps never live for more than two weeks. However Tiger & Bees in my office shrimp tank having 24-26degC are doing well, already 6 months. could it be the temperature?

I read somewhere that tigers and bees are more sensitive to high temperature compare to cherries or malayan. Infact, some people claim that when temperature reach around 27 to 28 degrees, the bees' color will fade.

Yeah, I guess so. I just came back from Hong Kong and got 40 bees shrimps for less than S$7. Now trying very hard to keep them alive at around 27 to 28 degrees and so far already few casualties.

personal exprience, the temperature seems too high. Maybe these shrimps would do much more better with chiller?

we have talked about which shrimps breed the fastest. Anyone know how often cherries breed?!?! for my case, i have successfully bred cherries for 2 generation, last bred was about 3-4mths. during that period, been wondering why my cherries not getting pregnant, or when they will breed again.

recently spotted 2 cherries carrying eggs, and til today saw quite a number of female cherries with yellow patch on their back, which i forsee them getting pregnant.

Anyone knows how often they breed?!?!

I been keeping cherries too; I cannot really tell how often they breed. The small shrimplets hide very well and it is only when I start seeing multiple small size ones (5~7 mm) that I realised that another generation has popped up. My tank is almost overgrown with Java moss

There was once I need to move tanks, I was catching shrimplets around the length of 2~3 mm. And I had a hard time getting them

i used to shone torchlight in search of them when lights off. indeed i spotted them creepy crawling in search for midnight snacks, and they were so tiny then. And that's also when i realised my first ever attempt on breeding cherries worked.

will be trying out on crystal red shrimps, after my newly bought crs survived til now. been co-habiting with the cherries for about a month time.

and maybe i be able to voice out my views on which shrimps breed the fastest!

Number of shimps is not a problem as long as ammonia and nitrites can maintain at zero.
