To add on, usually done in WTS or WTB threads.
It can be irritating too sometimes. Some forums discourage or disallow it.
not really useful even if you ban it... people will just start posting more crapsOriginally Posted by |squee|
ic..so is counterproductive..cos u want peopleto read ur thread however when people click on it they see upzz and not actual additions to your thread...
Yo! Think i'm still lost... U mean Upzzz is a 'command' that will bring your post right up to the top? WTB? WT.. something? Whatz that??? Please enlighten... Thanks...

when someone "upzz" the post has a new entry to the thread. thus their add goes up to the top of the list. so, kiasu people will try to outdo each other with more "upzz" thus upsetting the flow of the forum.Originally Posted by jacquetlc
done in moderation, i.e. the give their thread some time before upping, it can save uneccessary "new threads". done in a kiasu fashion it irritates the hell out of most forumers.
i am glade to say it doesn't happen in a kiasu fashion in AQ. thanks to the Mods! which is one of the reasons i like AQ too!

Upzzz is mispelt... like your Blurzzz and Gone-zzz.Originally Posted by jacquetlc
When you post to a thread, it goes to the top of the "new posts" list. So to give their threads more visibility, people post "Up" or "Upzzz" (as in "up to the top of the list"). Actually, they can post any text they want to a thread to achieve the same effect.
WTB = Want To Buy
WTS = Want To Sell
These are short forms and usually put in the title of a thread to indicate the contents of the thread. For example, if you want to sell a fish tank, you should start a thread with the title "WTS: 3'x2'x2' fish tank". Then people who are interested will open and read it. See this too.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
because up is too short, some forum disallow. so upzzzz just nice. :d
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Other ways of doing it is "Bump", aka bumping a thread. It's the same meaning: bumping a thread so that the thread will go to the first page of a forum you visit, so visitors will more likely click on your sell/buy thread.
celticfish, thanks!
And some uses "bounce" which has the same effect...
Still, one can always bump a thread when he idiotically posts at 3am and doensn't get a reply because no one gets a chance to see it. But don't do it more than once.
That and "bump" sounds so much better than "upzzz". Then again, to each his own yeah?
This is a funny post! Very interesting!
I have been thinking what upzz means. Does up for grab sound logical?
Hmm... this is super irritating and confusing. A forum is like a helpdesk and for beginners like myself searching for tips and information.
If more and more ridiculous postings are posted, I'd be v. 'pek-chek' to go thru all the junk to find what i'm actually looking for...
Even this current Upzzz thread is driving me nuts... v. mad... *fumes*
Anyway, thanks for explaining what i've asked... though i'm still blur-zzz about up-zzz... geezzz... yuckzzz *sigh*
As explained above upzzz, means "Up my thread to the top of the list of active threads".Originally Posted by Eatfroggie
Similarly for bump and bounce.

Use Advance Search feature to find specific topics. As for upzz, etc, they are used mainly in the buy/sell threads. AQ discourages the excessive use of such tactics. AQ also frowns on excessive chitchat posts in non-chitchat threads in non-chitchat forums.
One of our key goals is to make AQ a useful resource to the hobby, yet at the same time a friendly community where hobbyists can interact on a social level. This is a fine balance that we've worked work hard to acheive, and still working hard to refine and maintain.
