Hi pple, those interested in getting Cichlasoma salvini can go C328 to get them. Saw a whole bunch of juveniles today, their conditions are excellent, fat and robust. They are very beautiful cichlids in my opinion and are not alway available in our LFS.

Heres a link if anyone wants to know how they look like, real beauties

    thanks for the info fox!

Yeah for all of you interested in this fish,
you can roughly sex them at 2" onwards.

Males from the same batch will be larger.
females have a distinct blue spot on the gill cover, and sometimes at the base of the dorsal fin.

females have more red esp near the abdomen. Males have more bluish specks.

females are more rounded even at a small size. males are more longish and have larger head with relation to body.

here are the pics of our pair.
    Male is above, female below.

    Guys,
I saw this fish yesterday with another one in the same tank. It has, i think, 3 black dots, face, mid section and tail. Any idea what fish was that?

They're keyhole cichlids, if I'm not wrong. =)

    Thanks. =)

Dunno... I went there & saw the keyholes housed w/ Salvinis... all have 3 black spots. Perhaps it is because they were still young... ? =)

Otherwise, there were 1 or 2 young GTs in it....

dennisks, the fish that you're querying on, what was the base body-colour? Yellow?

    they are 100% not keyholes.
they are among our favs and we had kept keyholes both smaller and larger than those in C328.
keyholes will never have 3 spots. Colour wrong, shape wrong also.

artvale told me that they are some kind of african but i dont know what is that.
