    Hello guys,
    i've been experiencing green water in my tank recently... i've just planted my whole tank with hair grass about 2 weeks back... lights and CO2 on for 6 hours... some spot algae have been appearing on the glass too... please advise...

    water change once 2x a week, and during change, little bit of K, PO4, Nitro... that's it! no direct sunlight...

    Maybe a black out method or additional UV will help. I still prefer doing a 3 day total black out. Always helps on green water i think.

    i would reccommend also that u intro "daphnia", but of course u must put them in those fine netting so that it serves its function b4 being eaten...

    wad i did was cut down on my lighting and put in some floating plants. Presto. 2 days and the green water was gone

    i tried the black out method..but didn't work..think maybe that time very jialat...
    according to vincent, he reccommend suspending a packets of carbon in the water...interesting as it sounds...can give it a try..

    Well I'll vouche for the daphnia method. It works and it'll cost you somethink like 50 cents

    isn't it troublesome? sorry but is daphnia the same as the brim shrimps? gotta hatch them or something? and the cost of the net to saperate them b4 they're eaten?

    If mild, a complete blackout of 3-5 days should kill off the greenwater. However, it does not work well for bad cases especially those with lots of lights. A UV would be the easiest option other than a diatom filter/micron cartridge filter.

    Add more biomedia to your filter...

    nope nope...daphnia is not equal to brine shrimps. though they may look alike if nv notice carefully. just tell the lfs u wan buy "Boon", normally 50cents per pack..
    the cost of netting is $1 for small and $2 for big,,,
    normally i'll get 2, 1 big 1 small, cos i seen them disappearing very fast if put in 1 small 1, they can escape pretty easily and most prob all ur fishes will be seen pecking on the netting bag of daphnia for a sumptious meal

    oh yeah... I've noticed that too. The population in my culture crashed. Now all I've got left are pods and cyclopses.

    Kingfisher sells them but only on Tues, Thurs and Sat... not too sure size and price...
