Have you checked outside the tank? Wood shrimps can also take a walk outside the tank like the other shrimps.

Anyone keeping wood shrimp?
I bought 3 of them and i cant find them in my tank!!
My 2 ft planted has pratically no hiding space but they cant be found
once a while i see one of them come out but the rest of the time they are invisible!!

I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
When I first bought five they hid for 6 weeks and they are good at hiding, so give yours a few weeks, then when they are comfortable the will come out to fan in the current.Originally Posted by anaconda
i had 2 wood shrimps.. one was significantly smaller ... one mornign i found bits of shells on the substrate. he got ruthlessly slaugtered by some cichilds.. lucky the other one was 2X his size.. and no fish disturbs him. he used to be hidden very well for the first 4 weeks when i got him... once in a while i see him out of the water.trying to get the the filter section at the back
what are ur other fauna?? Usually cichlids will eat shrimps.... and big catfish too...
is ur tank covered? the first time i bought one and put it my tank..i saw it out of the tank the next morning, dead..
my surviving Wood shrimp is very brave now... it sits near the water out flow and enjoys filter feeding
the smaller one was the one that was murdered
