Just finished setting up the hardscape for my new Apisto Tank with the help of my buddy, Michael Lai last night.

It is a 1.5ft x 1ft x 1ft curve Tank with ADA soil & white sand (From NA). Still considering the white sand. If not happy with it, will change it to other sand.

    Filtration : Eden 501
Substrate : ADA soil with Power sand, White Sand
    Flora : Anubias, Peacock Moss
Fauna : Apistogramma viejita from Wilhelm
    Lighting : 1 x 18W
    CO2 : Still considering

    This is the King

    This is the Queen

Still fine tuning the tank as I am consider the Flora & Fauna selection. The most important feature of this tank is it is for my APISTO

    Any recommendation?

And let me bring your attention to the SeaShore exclusive whitesand condominium situated right under the bogwood, comes free hold and all your normal amnesties.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

    hmm...

The rocks don't seem to match each other well. And the white half at the front will seem unnatural.

And.....Your Apistogramma viejita will not show good coloration in your tank with such a layout. The large tract of pure white sandy substrate foreground will ensure your fish remains pale most of the time except the occasional flaring during mating season.

You might want to consider reducing the white sandy portion to just a highlight instead.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

The pair will start to transfer the white sand to the gravel and vise versa. so it'll in a great mess later on.
    Cheers!

I agree too that the white sand got to go. It may look chic now, but it is going to get dirty easily.

WA!! dont put your fish there too soon ah... afterward they go heaven dont say i never say..

also why a straight line?? its like you partiioned the tank right down the centre.. a bit un-natural leh..

white sand like many pple say here is used as an accent.. not for half the tank.. i think slightly beige sand will look nicer..

    Cheers,
I agree with you on the white sand. it looks nice initally. which rocks are you refering to? By the way, the picture is taken without water filled in. Once the water are filled in, the rocks look similar except for the cave.

    Any suggestion for alternative sand?

I thinking of changing the sand.. too bright for the eyes. Fish are still in the old tank

any suggestion for alternative fill up for the white sand. I don't want to put everything ADA Amozonia .. what to create abit of sand like area in the front.

any suggestion of Flora & Fauna?

    Currently only have peacock moss.

Consider filling in the gaps in the Amazonia with more plants nanas, moss, app etc. and use lapis for the front, probably shift the ADA soil to create a higher mount in the left corner so that the border between the amazonia soil and lapis is not too stiff.

My guess is their natural habitat are the river beds with flowing water and light colour sand, thats brings up the colours.
