Breeding project: Apistogramma cacatuoides!!

well the female had turned yellow guys( i know this means she's in breeding mode right?)... it's doing some wierd swimming like as if it trying to swin sideways.. left and right.. and the male watched it like it's 'Lost season 2'. for the past 15 minutes they are in their coconut cave... the female went in and the male followed. is this typical behaviour? both still in there. hmmm can't be that they are spawning right? it's too soon i just got them into the tank.

thanks Joop... but this is all soo sudden.. the male came out from the cave and is swimming around chasing the otos and WinterCloudMountains away... the female peeps out now and then.. but she's definitely inside doing something.. hoping for the best..

not quite a good choice of diters to use, try pencils instead. white cloud can be too fast for yr apisto to guard. like wise neon, cardinal etc...i'm sure pplp like genes have experience the F16 show.

And yes i held an airshow of my own....in my 3 footer . Cardinals swopping downwards for the frys. Too fast and too many for the parents to fend off. Gotten rid of them now.

Am using hatchets as dither fishes now because they are surface dwellers. Rocket pencils will be a good choice if you can find them.

rocket pencils are selling at 50Cents per pc at Toh's farm, i always go there to get pencils since they're cheaper. Cheaper than getting from bookstore

Just throw in 3 pieces of Nannostomus beckfordi or more commonly known as the golden pencilfish. Cost about S$0.5 to S$1 each. Cheap and good.

You might be better off preparing fry food!

Thanks for the heads up Yorky... i always have a constant supply of Brine Shrimp at home... i feed them to my Malawi cichlids in the 3ft tank. so for fry food.. there's always BBS around. thanks.

Oh my God! it's confirmed that the Female has laid eggs... i shined a torch at an angle into the coconut shell and there are a Mass of eggs on the inside wall.. WOW! this is amazing man! and to think i just got them on Saturday... arghh! So exciting!.. the female just came out for a look around and went back in.. the male unfortunately is in hiding. so fast man.. i don't believe it..

Funny enough i had a different experience,my female tri attack the 2 neon acting as dither till both died.stomach all kena attack...realli fierce my female..dun dare put anymore dithers in her tank.
