    Yap!
My father actually drilled a hole in my 5 Plan 2ft tank to make it a mini sump for his koi pond!
However, no idea if he used any special drill bits!
Let me go find out from him and update you again!

    special drill bit is required.
check with aquarium tank maker if they provide such service.
much easier and safer than diy.

If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.

Go to a Good hardware shop and ask for a Diamond coated drill bit. With this bit you can drill most glass except tempered glass. cost about $16 -$28 depending the size of the bit.

Its not as hard as it seems. Remember to set your drill to the recommended drilling speed and NOT use the hammer "mode" when drilling the hole. While drilling apply plenty of lubricant , in my case i just get a friend to put a constant stream of water onto the bit while drilling.

    cheers

diamond drill are specialized drill meant for glass, concrete, stone and bricks. usually not used for drilling other material due to their high cost.

wood can be drilled with normal hss drill bits that are used for drilling metal. there specialized wood drill as well which will cut the wood fibres to provide "clean cut" at hole edges.

Why don't bring it to the glass merchant? Most industrial park that sells glass will do it for you..... ard $10 for one hole, better than buying a diamond drill. I did mine before at Tampines industrial park, behind SAFRA. Think shop name is ProGlass Pte Ltd.
