Lost 2/8 Yamato since I got them from Rainbow a week ago.
Is shrimp lost normal ?
Do I need to Quarantine them ?
Will diease between Cory and this shrimp transmit to each other ?
Anyone can help to advise.
shrimp loss is rather common
i wouldn't say normal
yamatoes are sensitive to nitrites and organics in the water
if you don't have healthy plants they're quite likely to go
others have experience with high temperatures causing loss
mine were in my discus tank (31~32) and they were fine until they got eaten by the discus
Just got myself about 10 rainbow shrimps and 20 yamatos for my 2ft planted on Saturday.
Sunday morning, I'm left with only 4 yamatos, but the rainbow shrimps are ALL okay. The yamatos would be swimming about, then like suddenly faint and sinks to the bottom. After some time, they would go more and more opaque. Finally, cooked. Go figure...
My tank is about 29 degrees. Nitrates and NH4 levels are almost 0.

deff, apart of nitrate.. yamato r oso sensitive to climatization. I oso experience death due to transport shock.. from what DEA points out, his yamato can survive at temp of 31-32.. but mine cant survive above 29
btw, yr rainbow shrimps r actually malayan, they r more tolerant to temps and tank perimeter
I like to put the remaining Yamato into the main tanks.
But I fear they may bring dieases to my cories.
Also will they attack my 1nch size cory frys ?

yamatoes don't harbour disease afaik
my cories have never gotten sick from introducing shrimp into the tank
they're a lot less aggro as compared to feeder shrimp and macrobrachiam and they probably will leave the fry alone

yamato attacking fry....never heard before but yamato does feed on dead fishes to a certian extend.
