    Yo bro,

I totally agree with you on point 1. I believe by doing a 50% WC the BB will be wiped out and yes for large tanks like those that you and I have, its almost impossible to store aged water, unless we have our own mini reservior year

I don't really know whats the chemical content over at Bedok Reservior yet. But judging from the 50% water change + cloudy water, I think the water definitely will wipe out the BB quite instantly despite adding anti-chlorine/Chloramine.

For my tank, I believe that before the major rescape that I did, the tank was probably about to mature, however after the rescape, the water did become clearer and then became cloudy again the week after. After the addition of the Efhi Substrat, I had to do the 50% water change, I was intending to do a 30-35% water change instead. However, I will experiment with the water change next coming week or the week after, it will depend I guess, I'll play by sight for the time being. E.I is not E.I if there isn't a substantial WC done I believe, correct me if I am wrong. Ranges from 25-35% should suffice for us bigger tanks perhaps.

The next step for me, to be patient, wait and monitor the livestock as well. I presume the water will be cloudy for weeks to come as the efhi substrat is new. However with the remaining filter media that I have in there and mulm, it'll kickstart the BB's colonisation faster.

Definitely update you guys on the progress.

Hmm... cloudy water is typically due to either bacterial bloom or inefficient mechanical filtration. Also trying out the EI method and agree that 50% water change is a challenge.

Yours is a pretty unique case. Keep us updated and we can all learn a thing or 2.

It seems that my yamatos and malayans have disappeared after the WC + addition of Efhi Substrat.

I can't seem to find a single one of them...

Ok, I must say that the water has cleared up after the addition of the Efhi Substrat.

Will post a bigger picture tonight when I am back home.

It's clearing up? Looks good then. Hopefully it'll clear up for you totally. Clear water is a beauty!

Might be a silly question but I'll still ask.

Since I added in the Efhi Substrat and this Saturday will be its first week, should I let the water cycle further before doing a water change or proceed with my weekly water change?

Imho, I'll let the water stablise more.

Don't do a water change... the EI regime should be fine. Just do as normal imho.

    Hey Terence,

Appreciate the advise given. Will let the water mature over the next 2-3 weeks before doing a water change.
