    Hi guys,

Can I have a short list of the types of Apistogramma that do well in community tanks? I don't intend to spawn them, just want to brighten the tank with their colours. Also is pH 6.5 ok to keep them?

I will probably need a cheap and hardy one to try first. Thanks

p.s. If anyone is letting go, please feel free to PM me.

I believe most apistoes will do well in community tanks unless you have really small fishes or cherry shrimps/CRS that will become food for them...

How about the pH level? As I'm using lapis sand, mine tank pH level is about 6.5.

Heard that they need really low pH level, isn't it?

"Cheap and hardy ": You may try Apistogramma trifasciata or Apistogramma cacatuoides.

If you stay Bukit Merah, you can buy them at Biotope Aquarium

If you are thinking of keeping dwarfs only, I would recommend a tank of checkerboards rather than apistos.

hmm... I saw a place selling Apistogramma pulchra at S$30 per pair, wild caught from Brazil.

You think it is a good price?? As I not so sure about the value, dont want to end up buying something too expensive too...
