Temperature of your tank? Moss likes cooler waters...

Yes you can, just as long as your livestock are fine.

How long has your moss been in your tank? Taiwan moss is not really demanding. Give it 2 weeks to a month plus to adapt to your tank condition and once it takes off, you will have too much of it in no time

Yes, cool water and slight water movement will help moss grow slightly faster. Also, moss do better in clean water.

How are your other plants doing? Most plants and also moss require a bit of time to acclimatise themselves to the new water parameters in your tank.

Any reason why you stagger the hours where the lights are turned on? A good practice would be to have a sustained photoperiod of about 10 - 12hrs.

what does it means by photoperiod?
does the hour of lighting range for different sizes of tank?
is there such theory as smaller tank need shorter hour of lighting?

Photoperiod in a tank means the duration of lighting turn on.

I dont think hours of lighting varies according to tank sizes.

My tank planted with Jap Hairgrass, Downoi, Red tai yang chow and few some DW with java ferns on the left while red tiger lotus on the centre. Moss on other side.

Well tank temp at 26, using resun CL650. I realised that the cooling period took abt 45-1.5 hrs. This my guess that why my PUB-electricity up abt $60.
It was placed inside tank cabinet with horizontal strips on the side and 10 nos 4inch hole behind. I added a fan next to the chiller and instead of resting the PL 4ft x 4nos x36 watt x 2 sets on glass top, i placed the light stand to make the ventilation and not too direct heat from the lighting heat to the H2O surfaces.

    Cheers

Mecedesfish - temperature is the key - try to stay below 28deg, 25-27degress would be fine. Lighting and co2 is a bonus if you want it to grow faster.

How are the rest of your plants besides your moss doing?

Mosses in general are not demanding. Liquid fertilisers are not an absolute necessity.

Add more CO2 to hit 6.4 for your KH of 3 and keep it there the entire photoperiod. Look into your fertilisation regime once you get the CO2 down.

Why the morning 1 1/2hr photoperiod? Just to view it? I suggest you don't and do a full 10hr straight instead.

    Hi Peter,

hahah......save electricity so that i could watch my tank and at the same time save the lighting for my hall in the morning.

I will add more CO2 as advised. Anyway, i have addition CO2 that someone given. Put the addition CO2 to other side wont have any effect on the tank, except the PH and fishes right?

    Thank a lots
