I had gotten some hairgrass from a friend, grown it in the tank for about 2 weeks. Recently there are few strands that "hollows" off, while some become yellow and some simply turn brown.

May I know if there are any methods to removes those dead grass? It seems that even when using twister, the whole stalk of hairgrass will just be easily pulled out.

    Hi,
I have lots of Hairgrass in my tank. To remove Hairgrass you can:

    1) Manually pull them from the base. Make sure you do it slowly, unless you want to mess up the gravel.

    2) Or you can use a water hose, the same one that you use for water change. Suck up the Hairgrass. You may gave to use your fingers to pull it a little bit to loosen the roots.

    3) Leave it alone. If you can live with it. They will 'melt' and when you do a water change the next time, you can clear the remains.

    Good Luck!

Just a small stainless steel scissor to gut it off.

And I believe you are refering to tweezers, not twisters. Right?

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    guan,

Take note that if you use tweezers, you risk pulling out a whole chunk!

Very messy and impossible to but back those that you yanked out the way it was.

    benny,
ok, no problem, so far i just leave them alone.
but it really look awful due to the browning of the old leaves.
but the new leafs that comes out are very healthy.

Sound llike the situation when you don't maintain your hair...

When you don't cut it...soon it grew longer and one by one white hair appear. "Pull" it up and you feel the pain . Best is to cut or trim them once a while add some moisturizer and tonic and the the hair would turn soft and shinny....don't you agree kekekeke!

how about using shrimps? usually they will clear off the dead plants. that time when i had a lot of dead plants in my 2ft tank, I threw in a packet of malayan shrimps and they clean up the tank in 3 days.

Put in some SAE can do the same trick too, but need to stave them. SAE can munch away the dead halr grass and not pull up the good one.
