I have a small bud just like this with my Xmas moss. But, too bad it withered. Would be interesting how your turns out.

Don't forget to put it back into the water...let it grow...
    Psst...beware of the armless swordsman!

but even if they flowers in the water, how will they really propagate naturally?
i mean like the spores of the moss flower, how will it disperse to other places in the tank?

    guan,
If you can't understand it...try to ask your science teacher.

    seed75,
There are few type of mosses able to grow with bud submersed.

All mosses, including nonaquatic species, need water to reproduce, which is why you find mosses mainly in damp and shady habitats. It's actually very complicated, because you need to understand what constitutes the gametophyte (haploid) and sporophyte (diploid) stages of the life cycle, but in short, you start with a male moss (which produces sperm) and a female moss (which produces the eggs). The sperm needs water to be able to swim to the egg and fertilise it. A zygote results which divides and grows into a sporophyte on a stalk (or seta). The diploid sporophyte produces haploid spores that once mature, will be dispersed by wind or water to grow into new mosses.

There will be seeds when submersed, but these seeds will not grow into new plants.

Mosses grow in water, so why worry?

oic, but it will be good if we can crossbreed the moss, example xmas moss X spiky moss, and become another species.
then this will show the kind of flourish in aquatic plants in singapore and become a hub for breeding the most hybrids of moss!
