Anyone has any fish ideas? I was thinking of transferring my mature and fat Rasboras from another tank. I need something easy to shoot with my 300D.

What you mean this tank is set up just for shooting??
You mean you set up this tank.. stuff a few plants in and then take photo then thats it?? dont you think the judges will realise this? especially the emersed lobelia...or are you trying to see if you can fool amano san..??
rasbora wise.. what kind are they? some are harder than others.
That's why the Lobelia is out! Well, most of the plants will do fine. I'm growing the moss in another tank.
I did state that this is a journal set up for an ADA shot!

Amano doesn't like newly setup tanks that ain't grown in as you can see from the comments he made on the AGA 2004 competition.![]()

Agreed. That's why I need to be careful with the plant choices here. The stem plants will flourish in a week, so I won't have problems with those.
All the plants were already cultivated in another tank, so it's not really that new. I chose the ferns for this cos I have tons of them and I can easily pile them and make them look wild.
And having a bare foreground will do away with the problem, since it's mostly that that can give it away as a new setup.
I'm not looking to win at all. All I want to illustrate here is how easy you can set up a small tank in a few days and let it "mature" for a couple of weeks for a competition.

oh..so now its out. sorry but prior to my post you didn't state this. i could only presume you were still considering it..which is why i posted what i did.Originally Posted by Weirong
Anyway, if you're NOT considering letting the ferns and stuff grow out then i have a comment.. you need to pile more..much more. The amount you put on the wood looks..even to my untrained eye.. like a new setup.. dont even think about what it'll look like to Amano san.
no one mentioned anything about winning.
Hehehe...![]()
Already have some moss grown in another tank. Will be adding them last. The moss placed at the ferns are there to let them look more natural and wild.
Maybe add touches of Crassula in the foreground later. Hmmm...

Just added the backdrop of gayi and a dash of Najas guadalupensis.
Bits of Crassula helmsii added in the front.
Looks like i have to shift the smaller piece of wood on the left more to the front. Spiky moss will fill the foreground, but leaving a bit of the black sand exposed.
Rotala wallichii for a splash of red?![]()

Ember tetras for the splash of red!
Ember tetras easy to find in shops? Hmmm.
I was thinking of getting 20 Lampeyes, and create a purplish-black background, the fade-away sort (purple fading into black). But have not decided on the tone yet.

There're tons in Ben's and Biotope now as I'm told.
Your idea is good too. Do what you think is best!
Coming along nicely! I'm sure it will be ready in 2 weeks.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
Just added the Lampeyes. A quick shot. Pardon the 'BIG' internal filter.

Haha, no. Just using it temporarily. Will remove this when I shoot the actual setup next week.
Then I may bring this whole setup to my office.![]()

What do you guys think if I use this as a background? I'm trying to look for something else besides pitch black. Needs to complement the lampeyes also.

hmm...imho..ur tank may look quite "dark", since ur gravels are already black color + ur hardscape is towards the "dark" theme...adding that dark blue background will make the tank look dark...
perhaps u can try and take a shot of it...who knows...may look great..![]()

Hi Weirong, your tank looks great. Just a question, you only used black sand with no base fert, are the background plants able to survive till photoshoot?
