    Hi guys,

Whats the difference of the 2 mentioned above? Does normal anti-chlorine liquid like Genesis rids of the above mentioned?

    thanks!

i think it will get the chlorine out of your water but from what i understand in the chloramine it leaves the ammonia in your water, API have a brand called ammo-lock which encapsulates the ammonia but if you take an ammonia reading it's still there, hope you can understand what ive just said.

Chlorine is a gas and can be treated by normal dechlorinator such as Sodium Thiosulfate or via aeration whereas chloramine is a combination of ammonia+chlorine which is more stable in water and cannot be remove via aeration or leaving the water standing for a day or more. Normal dechlorinators are able to remove the chlorine part in chloramine but not the ammonia which is toxic to fish/critters. If you are unsure of what type of treatment is applied, it is a safer bet to get anti-chloramine solutions or carbon filters.

do read carefully the label on the bottle, as far as i understand...some "cheap" solutions normally remove chlorine onli, the best is to use solutions like "Nutrafin Aquaplus" which confirms remove both..(guess a lot of folks us here uses it).. btw..i read in some websites that cholarimine is harmful to fishes...not sure if that's 100% true...
    better be safe than sorry...

yea chloramine is indeed harmful to fishes, think of it like a more advanced version of chlorine which doesn't dissipate so easily.

You use Genesis to treat the water, and everytime you do that, your shrimps die? Please confirm, thats rather alarming.

Or is this just pure coincidence?
