    Hi all,

My recent spat with the discus has been over come (not eating). However I'm faced with a new challenge now.

After introducing 2 blue diamonds (juveniles) to my colony, the 2 blue diamonds have become sick (blackish) and always hiding and it seems. I have since quarantined the 2 blue diamonds.

Now my latest challenge I face is that the rest are starting to close their fins, etc and look sick. However when I feed them, they are actually eating. I do not know if they are sick now or not. The colors of the brown & red mellons are still there (still reddish for the red mellons and a bit to the dark side for the browns).

Some additional information that I can add is that both my filters were recently changed due to functionality issues. I initially replaced one of my Jebao 918s with a Eheim Pro II with the following filter media layout:

Top tray - fine filter wool pad + Efhi substrat PRO
2nd tray - Efhi Substrat PRO
3rd tray - Coarse blue filter pad + Efhi MECH

I transferred some of the Efhi substrat from my Jebao to the filter.

A week later, my other Jebao had some mechincal faults and stopped working. So in that event, I then purchased a second Eheim Pro II 2028. Likewise I transferred the Efhi substrat over. After the initial change of the first filter, the discuses were all fine.

After the change to the 2nd filter, things were ok as well and the water has cleared up tremendously. Could this be the fact that the blue diamonds are affecting the other discus? For your info, the rest of the other critters are not affected at all.

Strange thing is that although the discus look sick, they're still as greedy as ever...

    Seeking advise.

as you know grey fox, discus are easily upset by anything different in thier area, like you changing a filter which will need time to find the bacterial balance again and the addition of other discus to thier shoal, and from what ive been told blue diamonds are delicate compared to other discus strains.
as long as they are feeding just keep checking on them.
    good luck
