    Hi

I read about this reliable way to connect the CO2 hose to the 2 liter bottle using a "bulk-head connector" common in model aircraft hobby. (reference article "A Treatise on DIY CO2 Systems for Freshwater-Planted Aquaria"
    by John LeVasseur, url : http://www.qsl.net/w2wdx/aquaria/diyco2.html )

(picture reference from Tower Hobbies, url :

But this is still quite costly considering the shipping cost to where I live. It works out to be about $6 a piece.

I tried out an inexpensive way to use a dirt- cheap aquarium air hose joint (of plastic material) that can be found in common LFS, and use a metal nut (size M4 ? not to sure, I dig it up from my tool box's left over staff)
to cut screw thread onto the air hose connector, and then fasten it to the bottle cap (through a 5mm drilled hole). Some blutak was applied between the sealing surface to seal off any leak.
    Heres the pics :

It works fine without any leak and looks neat from the outside.
But I am not sure if the metal nut exposes to the carbonated-water in the bottle would eventually corrode or leach any contamination.

I am still monitoring. Appreciate any comment, suggestion. Thanks.

you can "insulate" the metal nut with "hot glue".
a cheaper solution would be to make use of normal plastic air hose connector instead of bulk head connector. then use hot glue tp seal the area inside the bottle cap. don't add too much hot glue else you'll not be able to close the bottle. also, make sure that the surfaces are clean and dry.

    Thanks.
I also found some stainless steel nut. Hope that will do the job too.
