    If you get your PhD, than the Dr. sticks to you all your life. Prof. is only a rank you have when you are under the emplyment of a university. It is gone once you leave the institution. Just like army rank lah. You may be a BG in the army but once out of the army, you also become a Mr.

    Doesn't the Prof. supersede the Dr.? Meaning, if you have the Prof., you drop the Dr.? No?

    Don't worry about it, Benny. In SG, we don't follow the German convention (actually the Dutch do this too). Yes, in SG, we drop the Dr. once you get Prof., because Prof. bigger title mah...

    That's what I thought. I distinctively remember that in NUS, the Prof. was a bigger shot that the Dr. Anyway....I digress...
