Nope. You cannot don't use the solenoid if you don't remove it.
And I am not so sure whether the UP brand one can remove or not... because by default, when there is no electricity running through the solenoid, the valve is closed as an electromagnet opens the valves when there is current running through it...

Whether can remove or not, must check with those who has this piece of equipment...

The solenoid is use for switching your CO2 supply on and off. You can easily solve the difference in voltage problem by using a power converter which you should easily acquire in the US.

I think there might be some problem shipping compressed gas cylinder by air to the US though. You need to check on your end if you are able to do that first.

The UP cylinder comes in several different sizes.
I'm using a 1L one. cost me less than a 100bucks for full c02 cylinder
but of course still not as worth it as buying a normal big cylinder
but since its for my 1.5ft and gonna be place beside the tank i took it for aesthethic value.
Looks very good indeed. but if i had a bigger tank and cabinet i wouldnt be using it.
just buy a big ugly cylinder - much more worth it n cost effective
its gonna be inside the cabinet anyway and out of sight
    so ugly doesnt matter heh

But i using a JBJ solenoid from NA with it.
considered the dymax solenoid similarto the UP one being shown here...also would look very nice..but decided price versus quality wise to go for JBJ
heard some not so good reviews on dymax solenoid from chan at NA
decided to trust him n get JBJ

    tcampbell,
Do you live in Taiwan? I hope you're able to find one in Taiwan. Any size would be fine, as long as it's that specific co2 system. I really hope that you can find one for me. I will pay you for your help and labor. Please update me on your search for one.

    Splendid Warrior,
I don't think there's a problem shipping empty gas cylinder to the USA, as long as it's empty. About the electrical problem, tcampbell said the electrical voltage is the same as USA and Canada.

I have responded to your email. Just email me directly after you decide which parts you want as I emailed you many options and and we can talk.
http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic seems to give the most up to date rates.
