    It is suppose to be connected to the output from the filter. It's something like a random swirling water that create un-uniform water flow exiting from it. Why they create it? To provide a different water flow compare to the rainbar or a point source.

    so if i buy it, is it better for my plants??as in they wont be interrupted by my rainbar and can grow taller?

    I think you have to choose between the 2.
    It's either a rainbar or a lily pipe.
    Unless you have 2 cannister running, then 1 can be with rainbar, 1 on lily pipe!

    take it to a glass cutting shop to have the edges of the broken section you want to salvage smoothened... they have the tools to do it properly/safely
