Anyone knows if I can use these rocks for a planted tank since it has been in a tank with crushed corals bed for 2 years.
Hello,
I have a few big pieces of rocks which I have been using for the african cichlid tank.
I can't put a name to the type of rock.
Here's a pic of them.
Can someone help to identify what rocks they are?
I've numbered them differently as they are all different rocks.
I have used them in my African cichlids tank for 2years, with crushed corals.
Is it okay to use them for my planted tank if I rinse them?

They look to me like they can leech out stuff. Besides, frankly they aren't really nice-looking. Imho of course.![]()
I was thinking if it would leech too, but more if they would alter the ph of the water.Originally Posted by |squee|
Well, I love these rocks :P and there are a few other smaller pieces of same type. I hope to compliment them with moss and Java ferns.

The rocks are likely to be of volcanic origin. They are porus, can trap chemicals, and slowly leech out over time.
