fl light is sufficient for frogbits. anyway, it is at water surface an will get the most amount of light. an advantage over duckweed is that they are much bigger and can be easily removed when not needed.

Erm.... I think as the name applies duckweed is really a weed. It might look nice at first but you can never seems to remove it completely. Especially true if you were to have a moss wall. It will get stuck in the wall then propagate.
agree, really a headache for me!Originally Posted by Tanc39
Another consideration is the fast growing HornWort. Has no roots, floats around but submerged. So will not block light reaching the bottom as compared to the frogbits or duckweed. Easily removed as well.

hornwort floats around in a submerged way? wow, won't the whole tank be filled with floating hornwort then?Originally Posted by juggler

do you mean they just float below the surface of the water?
Well, if conditions are right, the hornwort will overwhelm the tank. So I guess you just have to prune them, and give the cuttings away?
Hornworts will be floating just below the surface. Or you can anchor them with an object.
what is Hornworts, got a pic to show?
Hornwort is Ceratophyllum demersum. Currently no picture in the gallery when I just tried. But you can do a google image search for it.Originally Posted by alanyeo99
