wow guys not so much of the scientific name, are u guys talking about crypt?
Any brother out there can teach me on tying of plants to DW? Saw alot of you guys doing that and it looks pretty amazing to me
Mmm...it's mostly a lot of patience really and tender loving care. I normally use nylon string, those fishing lines and then tie them to the DW or BW....talk easy, haa..but doing is another story.Originally Posted by soulfinder78
The last tying I did took me 1 hour to setup a pretty decent sized BW.
any website got teach how to tie plants to dw? say maybe crypt.

Crypts CANNOT be tied......![]()
I have Crypt Lutea tied to my driftwood. It's a bit difficult depending on the shape of the driftwood, but not impossible.Originally Posted by vratenza
It's basically just winding the string around the plant and wood to keep them attached together.
Perhaps I'll do an articleEDIT: Here's a ready-made one. It gives you more ides on using netting though. The winding process is described.
Search Google or Tropica, please. I'm talking about crypts, while Weirong isn't.Originally Posted by soulfinder

Cryptocoryne CAN be tied.... most of the usual one you buy on the market CAN be tied.. i've done it tonnes of times...and they flourish well even.
I got your message but couldn't send you a reply because your PM is full. I'd prefer you ask here to get more suggestions thoughOriginally Posted by soulfinder78

Anyways, what you saw from the picture was actually plants tied to the driftwood using the black cotton thread wind around the plant and the driftwood.
Any plants which can thrive from absorbing the nutrients from the water column can be grown out of the substrate. Especially true for those without roots. However, don't limit yourself to which plants others usually use on their driftwood and what else has not been used.
Just try it out and make sure you are gentle enough not to injure the plant when trying to secure them to the driftwood/rock. Keep the plant moist all the time by spraying the same tank water on them while you work on it.
Have fun experimenting!![]()

My pm full??? hmmm....anyway just clear my inbox. Thanks you all for yr ideas. I'm thinking of tying some java ferns to the bottom of the dw then towards the top tied some fissiden and at the same time tied christmass moss to the bottom of the dw to cover the roots/legs of the java ferns. is that a workable idea? No experience at all the only experience i got is tying mosses.
Fore ground i intend to grow japan hair grass if not HC. mid ground/ areas near the DW intend to grow those chilli red crypt that uncle at colourful show me.
