Hi, has anyone ever heard of an internal airpump? I'm currently using a 12g Nanocube tank with built in filter, and 3 types of rather leafy plants (one looks like pine tree cones, one looks like tapered spiral "pandan leaves", and one grows on a piece of wood and resembles nettle). But i realise that my fishes aren't really getting sufficient oxygenation as they keep going to the surface to breathe air. I have 2 gouramis, 1 catfish, 5 shrimps and 2 female guppies in the tank.
Is there anything that i can do about this? I keep the high-intensity light on at all times but it doesn't seem to increase photosynthesis very much (well, not sufficient to compensate for the fishes' respiration anyway). Is there a submersible airpump available commercially that i can install into the tank? this is problematic as most LFS owners either have never seen a closed system Nanocube tank before or don't know what i need.
I once tried putting in an external pump put the airtube sticking out not only looks ugly but also causes the water level in the tank to drop at an alarming rate due to evaporation.
    Please advice! thanks very much!

Photosynthesis also require CO2 for the plants to absorb in order for the plants to produce O2.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

How long have you kept this tank? Can it be due to nitrite/amonia poisoning?

Is the surface completely still and lack movement? If yes, add some surface movement such that a flake food can move around rapidly as that will add O2 from gas exchange.
