If you want to quicken the spawning effects, what you can do is condition the female for a few days to weeks before introduction of the male...very good method...
Esp for those apisto who don't seem to be interested in spawning.

Hi ben, maybe you would like to further explain what you meant by conditioning of the female?![]()

Conditioning means getting the female ready to spawn. Give the female good food high in carotene and good water.
So what i can suggest will be giving more BBS eg: feeding more but lesser potion, small water change every 2 days or so.. after about 2 weeks of doing so it'll be ready some how .

Hi Benny,
Do I need to transfer the female to another tank?

Transfer the male to another tank instead if you're breeding the pair in that tank.
Meaning the tank you want the spawn to take place, the female should be in there and the male in some other tank.
Hope that helps!
Cheers!

A piece of good news, I saw eggs in the "cave" hiding.![]()
![]()
What happened was the female was seen guiding the cave and not letting the male go near it. So today, I used a torchlight and shine into the cave. On the drift wood, I saw bunch of eggs but not sure how many of it. Hopefully they are all fertilised.

Congrate!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that really a great piece of good news![]()
my male Caca has been Dancing Furiously since the Female got introduced!
Hope i get Spawn soon as well!
If I were a fish, I'd BREED all Day!

Thanks Sheng.
Cacamaniac, good luck to you...

Be patient, time will come to you

Seem like all too eager to get their apistos into spawning
may your wish come true![]()
well we all wanna create the best environment so that they feel comfortable to spawn.. it makes the experience a whole lot more fulfilling ya.
seeing them parenting would rock.

I agree with cacamaniac, the environment, tank settings and water parameters are very important other than just getting our beloved apistos to spawn, without such important factors, even if our apistos do spawn, trouble might arise and the whole cycle from spawning to raising of fry would be broken eventually.....
my 2 cents

Hope this little good news can help to spice thing up.
My pair of apisto have finally succeeded in spawning and is having about 8 babies now. This is their third spawning.

Yup, the apisto fever have seem to have cooled down.
Congrate to your new born![]()

Just thought that I should update the progress, the fries is about 1.5cm nowbut mother have left them for good
. Feeding them with dry food, frozen BBS, live BBS and and lice daphnia.
I have bought a cheap pair of aga from C328 weeks back but the agressiveness of the malehas forced me to separate the pair. Now I am trying to condition for female first before I re-introduce it back to the male..
