I don't think the sound level of the speaker will hit 180dB... 180dB will cause the death of hearing tissue... Only found in sonars... Even an airplane taking off only generates 140dB... So our speakers will at most be 100dB...

Moreover, when you place the tank beside the speaker, the level of the sound from the side of the speaker is not very high... So no worries at all...

may have to watch the temperature when you switch on the tv too long...heat generated by the tv may cause the water temperature to go up.

Synth you just need some patience. I was like you when i started keeping shrimps but i had no one there to teach me how to set up a shrimp tank or wat the main nececeties were. I sacrificed over 20 shrimps before being able to keep them properly.

Take it easy... Let the tank cycle for awhile more.. Since you are going to keep CRS (equals expensive taste), you want to be safe than sorry...

I haven't kept CRS before, but think as long as the flatuation of the temperature of the water is not sudden, your shrimps shouldn't be a problem... Also, slowly acclimatise them when you bring back your shrimps and before introducing them...

For the care, I think I will leave it to those who have better experience than me...

Hi Synthesia, another thing to note is when you purchased the shrimps from LFS, make sure the shrimps has been in the tank for a few days. Try not to get those "just arrived" shrimps as they maybe very unstable. You need to slowly introduce newly purchased shrimps into your new tank to avoid sudden change in water condition.

Hi, what we need to do is to climatise the shrimp properly before adding into tank i.e. place the plastic bag of shrimps bought from LFS in to the tank for half an hour (to ensure same water temperature), next slowly adding the tank water into the plastic bag of shrimps (to ensure same water condition).

To add on, you can either use the drip method or use pouring a little at every 15min interval...

Pour away half the packet of water when it is about full, and do it again till it is full... Then you can release it into the tank... That's what I usually do... But I use the drip method... So my climatisation can take up till 3 hours...

Yes.. It will change... But the water parameters in the two will still be different even after a day...

I though of trying to 'properly' introduce shrimps to a new tank but it just didnt seem very convenient. I just drain almost all of the water out of the bag then i just throw my shrimps in the water. They'll be fine.

Though it is inconvenient, but better to be safe than sorry.

Most shrimps will be fine if you have a properly setup tank unless you're talking about CRS or if you have a big difference in water parameters (like pH). But then you never know how different your water is from the ones in the LFS do you? So, I guess it's better safe than sorry.
