ADA Africana is Reddish-Brown while Amazonia is Black. Both are produced to closely match the properties of the soils in those river streams. Mr Amano identifies 3 major eco-systems in the world, Amazon ("Amazonia"), Africa ("Africana") and Borneo ("Malaya").

For example, the Amazon sword plants have thick long roots that will zap nutrients, hence the Black soils (Amazonia) are more rich in them.

Is there a difference in PH levels for the 3 different soils?

PH of africana doesn't seem to be low when i used them.....

Anyone can confirm the ph of these 3 types when using them?

    Thanks

I use a bag of ADA Africana in my two feet tank and the pH in my tank is about 5.7.

I don't think thats true. It all boils down to co2 control, fert regime and lighting wattage.

    Hi there,

I am also using Africana on my 2X1.5X1.5 but i find it too little, i cant get a even spread with enough thickness(rearend thicker) for planting. Maybe have to get another packet.
