i'll be letting go my co2 set in about a week, will take pic.and post here soon.the set will come with 5L s.tank/regulator with solenoid/surface skimmer/co2 reactor/bubble counter plus some additional stuff.

Yes it's always better to have solenoid and you do not need to shut off the co2 manually which will shorten the life span of the valve. []

    mok should know better
it's the manufacturer based near pioneer road
they have academic discounts, cheaper than 30
if you want the solenoid + the valve, bioplast is selling it for 80+ iirc
the 155 you're talking about i presume is for dennerle and other branded solenoids, right?

the part no. was 4540, but apparently it doesn't fit
if you go down i suggest you bring the entire set to check which one fits it

I went down to bioplast/system control,

asked about selenoid : price: $85

gonna try the other source, I asked nearly every shop at sim lim tower, no luck, on the other hand, I got the ac fan with bearing at $18, + holder from nature aq.

btw: dea, you bought from them before , they know what you are talking about right.
    heh.

any students want to go along with me??? rofl.

    ------------------------

as for lighting: MH lightning is cheaper in long run: costs $40 to change the bulb every 2.5 years.
    for 5ft.

    Nick,
Hi there, my planted tank is almost 3years old. I has been using DIY CO2 for 2 years and get sick of it as the CO2 supply is really inconsistent. I am using Nisso Volca Sand and normal marine sand (lime free). For plant, i get them from LFS and farms in Malaysia and here.

    loupgarou,
the co2 system u've now consist of only the co2 cylinder,
pressure regulator and needle valve right?

to upgrade to one which can be controlled by a timer, u'll
have to add a solenoid valve between the pressure regulator
    and the needle valve.

the solenoid valve consists of the solenoid(just a coil of
wires actually) and of cos the valve itself(different from
needle valve). The solenoid is not expensive and should
cost less than $20 even for made in Germany ones. The
trick is finding the suitable valve which is compatible
with the existing pressure regulator, needle valve and
the new solenoid. Pneumatic valves doesn't come cheap.
you may be better off buying the complete set of regulator,
solenoid valve and needle valve from LFS. Got my Kare's
set for $130 more than 2 yrs back.

when you hear pple saying this spoil that spoil, it's usually
just the solenoid coil. I replaced mine with a FESTO part
for $17.80 after discount. yimin has mentioned the address
and part no. not all sets from LFS use the same solenoid,
so it's safer to bring the valve down to test for fit.

when LFS says they are selling 'German' regulator with
solenoid valve, it's only the solenoid coil that is from
    Germany.

    hope i'm of some help.
