Do you use a diviser when adding your substrate, to divide the back and the front portion. (IE... ADA Aqual Soil in back section and a slope, and bright sand in the front section and lower) ?

If so do you leave the divider in the stand when finished adding the substrate or remove it.

If you leave it in, what do you use as a divider?
If you take it out, doesn'tt you two substrates simply mix?

Ihave notice many people seem to leave it in, and just cover it with Rocks and drift wood.

    Thanks

im not sure what people do...

but amano takes it out once the gravel is put in
he uses large rocks in iwagumi formations as well as smaller rocks with riccia to place along the boundary between the 2 types of substrate to maintain the boundary and sort of cover the boundary line to prevent mixing

along and around these rocks and boundary lines he plants some glosso and e tenellus etc

tink im not explaning too clearly haha but thats the general idea as per his book

I think leaving it there would be better for future maintenance, a partition will help to minimise the mess.

My view is to remove the divider..thus the scape will be natural one without any manmade equipment in the tank.
