Just go to the farms and get one slab of foreground plant (emersed) and put it straight into the tank and slowly let it convert...

    Think it will be brillant!

do you plan to inject co2 into your tank? I'm abit sceptical whether would HC be able to grow in your tank without co2

I plan to use a DIY CO2 to a small air stone.
But temperature could be a challenge as the surface area is not large so evaporation may not cool it down enough.
Or any other easier plant to suggest ?

That's a very nice concept of a nano tank. I like the rock scape.

For such small setup, fast plant growth is not what you might desire. Therefore, it might be better that you leave out the CO2.

I have planted HC in my non-CO2 tank for almost 3 weeks. They seems to be growing just fine. I will leave it for another month or so to determine whether HC indeed will thrive in non-CO2 tank.

The small leaves of the HC is quite suitable for your tank. Maybe you can sparsely plant some HG around the rocks.

The lights that you have looks quite interesting. What wattage does it have? Any more pics on the light?

    Heres the pics :

    Spec : PL 7W 7200K

It came with the tank (plus an overflow filter) as a package. Bought last year from SAM at United Square.
Has a failed attempt last time on APP. Thought of a re-trial.

After 2 days the water getting brownish. I suspect the reddish rocks were leaching something to the water.
Did a water change and switch to a differnt type of rocks.

Is this layout better ? I find a bit un-natural, but lets see how it turns out later after adding the plant. Still searching for the ideal candidates....

BTW that is the overhang-filter at the back.

I felt that the rocks are unnatural... the original ones are better... you should go for rocks with single colour or avoid line patterns... my feel.

Thanks. I agree the original ones are more natural. But the color is too reddish. I will look for some darker (black) color natural-looking-rocks. (more liked pebbles/stones for this size). Good thing about tank this size is I can instantly change it anyhow.

Get a Eden 501 canister filter (you can buy from C328, only cost $55)for your tank. The hang-on filter looks out pf proportion with your tank. Furthermore, it disturbs the water surface, causing whatever CO2 left in water to escape. Your plants won't do well unless you pump in CO2.

Eden 501 would be too strong for a 2 liter tank, it would create more than tsunami in the tank...

I even found it too strong for my 1.5ft, which is about 30 litres.

    Joe

Fortunately, my 1 ft (10l) nano tank plants are not sent "flying" by any underwater currents caused by Eden 501 let alone a tsunami. Any bro care to share your experience? I hope I did not hijack dc88's thread.

    No problem !
Let me check out the Eden 501 and see how.
Is Eden 501 flowrate adjustable ?

Eden 501's flowrate is not adjustable, however I DIY an additional coarse sponge filter medium and put it between the ceramic rings and the existing sponge filter medium. this probably reduce the flow rate.

Remembered reading online somewhere about a hobbyist actually succesfully using eheim 9/12mm hose on the Eden 501. You might want to give it a try since if it's workable, then you can always get a tap in work in conjuction with the 501. Might be a costly option though.

Alternatively, try searching for OEM taps that might fit the 501 hose diameter.
