yeah, I have done a search on the Internet based on the name you gave, it is indeeed Panduro. Thx to amerce and joopsg.

    I think it is a male? http://www.thekrib.com/Apisto/A-pandurini.html
Want to replace another mate for the current one.

Any good tip to keep apisto? I am newbie to Apisto, what apisto is a good start? Also, is it true that I need to do a water change before putting in new fishes?

It is indeed a very nice male you have, I have recently purchased some Panduro's but am still learning about them myself and haven't managed to breed them. However I would recommend that you have a well planted tank as the females are very territorial and even more so when breeding.

I only know of one man who successfully breeds Apisto's in the UK, try contacting him from his website -

His name is Mark Breeze aka Microman, very nice guy as well.

Or try this forum for help -

    thank for the infor

it could be the water condition such as PH level. Yet to test.

I was thinking to redo the tank. ADA soil will lower the PH level, how much do I need (10kg bag) for 3ft tank for ?

    1) No planting but just fern on driftwood
    2) Can I add medium size or 10cent size gravel on top of the ADA?
    3) Which LFS is selling cheapest in the WEST area?

Alternatively, I was thinking of using the PEAT for filter. Just put some in the bag and leave in the tank. Will this also work.

If you are very sure that you probably wouldn't do any planting at all in the future and all plants on woods... Then a 9kg pack will suffice in making a thin layer of substrate...

I believe that ADA soil price is pretty controlled... So about the same lar...
West side I only know of Biotope... If slightly down, think Soon Heng sells them too... Not sure of pricing though...

    thank for the infor.

How long does this ADA last to keep the PH level? If it does not last long, have to change and recycle the tank is really a big hastle...... How about using PEAT filter option?

Hi crazyfish, you can read this.
Personal Basic Tips & Setup for keeping South American Dwarf Cichlids

ADA Aquasoil does a very good job in terms of keeping PH low and softening the water. And it will last for years.

    hi

so should I get the ADA Amazonia or Africana? Read some of the forum thread, the Amazonia(black) will really bring down the 5.x PH but Africana(brown) will only bring to 6.5 PH. Is this true? Or it is just colour difference?

    hi,
    Both are just as effective.
I'm using Africana and gotten PH of 5.0 on a 2 footer and using only 1cm thickness.
    Likewise for Amazonia.

the ph ideally should be under 7 ,
7 is neutral , apistogrammas come from soft waters which are under 7
above 7 is alkaline which is hard
you also try and over filtrate your system as apistos ned top quality water

to lower ph filter through peat, or by a softening pillow , or use a powder solution called proper ph 6.5 , it lowers , and highers ph until it reaches ph 6.5.
