Bought the KN03,K2S04, KH2P04 and Trace Elements from NA today. (Pic at: http://arofanatics.com/members/mali/fert/ )

    My tank is 60cm x 45cm x 35cm = 0.0945 m3 = 24.5gallon (round off to 25 gallon) therefore i should follow the:

    20-40 Gallon Aquariums
    +/- ¼ tsp KN03 3x a week
    +/- 1/16 tsp KH2P04 3x a week
    +/- 1/16 tsp K2S04 3x a week
    +/- 1/16 tsp (5ml) Trace Elements 3x a week
    50% weekly water change

My question now is, how do i get to measure the exact amount to put: eg like 1/4 or 1/16 tsp?? anyone can help me clear my doubts. and when dosing can i dose all one affter the other?

    Thank you.

You can do that by buying those teaspoon sets for cooking/baking. Just keep the micros dosing a day apart from the macros would do.

Don't call yourself a noob, everyone doesn't deserve to be called that!

Dr Mallick is someone in Singapore who deals with hydroponics. He supplies these KNO3, KH2PO4 to retailers. He also supplies Lushgro Aqua and Lushgro Micros, which are commonly called LGA and LGM, or simply "Dr Mallick's".

oh hi |squee|. i am really new to planted. frm young my main attraction was fish. but now i would like the fish to live in a planted enviroment. went to takashimaya, found the measurement spoon but selling whole set ranging frm 1/2tsp, 1/4tsp, 1/6tsp but the cost is $22. too high for me. but from it i learn that 2.5ml = 1/2tsp. when i buy the fert it already comes with spoon stating 2.5ml.so i guess i have to divide it myself when dosing it. Have a great Labour Day all!!

Welcome to this hobby then! You do not need to be absolutely accurate when dosing, just a rough estimation will do. It is after all estimative.

Get it from NTUC and etc...not shops at orchard. You know the pricing in those areas...

Take note....nothing will work well if the CO2 is not well addressed. Getting a pH pen or monitor is about the next best thing you can do.

Not worry, the price you got are about there.
BTW Thanks for the infor as I am looking for KH2PO4.
NA is nearer my house guess I will drop by to pick up some.

For measurement spoon there are many alternatives :
    - Buy the cheaper one from NTUC
    - When you visit clinic next time ask for the free plastic dosage spoon (usually 5ml on one end and 2.5ml on the other end)
    - Or just use a used teaspoon (~5ml)

A bit confuse. Does that mean the earlier dosage mentioned by tread starter of:-

    +/- ¼ tsp KN03 3x a week
    +/- 1/16 tsp KH2P04 3x a week

are meant to be powder form?

If my KNO3 and KH2PO4 are of liquid form, do I also dose 5ml of KH2PO4 (1/16 tsp)? Same as 1/16 tsp (5ml) Trace Elements?

Yes they're meant to be in powder form. You can't dose the same way with liquids because it's dissolved (different concentration), and therefore not the same.

If you have a 1/4 teaspoon, simply divide that volme by 1/2 on a flat surface.
Then divide it again by 1/2.

Now you have 4 equal parts of 1/4= 1/16th

Yes, all the measurements with teaspoons are design for that, dry powders.
The mls are for the trace elements.

    Liquid Dosage

Thanks for replying. Sorry if I ride on this thread.

I have the liquid equivalent (Seachem) of the KNO3 and KH2PO4. If I like to use the EI method for a 50 gallon tank,

    40-60 Gallon Aquariums
    +/- 1/2 tsp KN03 3x a week
    +/- 1/8 tsp KH2P04 3x a week
    +/- 1/8 tsp K2S04 3x a week
    +/- 1/8 (10ml) Trace Elements 3x a week
    50% weekly water change

what would be the 1/2 tsp equivalent in ml?

(The instruction on the bottle says 0.5-1ml per 20 gal 2x a week)

    Please help.
