wow! after two years of entertainment by a naked duck![]()
even the flower looks like the jamban.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Although Budaks skinny white hairy legs are probably very sexy, I think Id prefer to see the Crypt. No offense to Budak or his duck![]()
Oh sorry... forgot about this post... anyway, there's not much to it really. The plant is in a normal plastic pot with a mix of potting soil and aquarium gravel, in a covered planter tray with my other crypts. In growing these crypts emersed, I find that adding NO3 tends to trigger meltdowns (after a couple of months they recover), so I now add only a capful of Profito and a little Equilibrium to the water when I do a change of the water in the tray (about every 2-3 months). The more I leave them alone, the better.
It would be nice to see your entire setup. I am trying one out, just one crypt in a pot with regular soil and regular watering with spray misting once or twice a day. It doesn't get any direct sunlight but it is near a window. The crypt is growing, albeit slowly, putting out about one leaf per month.
It has been several months (4-5 months) since I planted this crypt emersed and it has shed all the old leaves. What you see are all new and emersed leaves, with a new leaf sprouting.

I am hoping that my Pontederrifolia will bloom this spring.
What are you feeding your Crypts?
