    A. sp. Putzer: All photos show the same fish in different mood;
    it is already 3.5cm long. Do you think it is a female or male fish?

    I'm not experieced. But I have seen a lot of female apisto looking like this at 3.5 cm. Given the shape, I would guess female.

    Just a gut feeling, haha. Just seems like an awful lot of colors in the finnage and the facial region for a female, even though the fins aren't elongated like the dominant males.

    i'd say it was a female, there is a lack of colour in the ventral fins and they are short not elongate like the males, but like benny i'm no expert in this type of fish.

    There seems to be a bit of coloration in the ventral fins on the first shot and was one of the reasons why I thought that this would be a male.

    Thanks much. At this stage, i also have no conclusion regarding its sex... i will wait and see if something will happen
