First, tell us what type of shrimp you have and the environment you have them in.
Guys, how did shrimp reproduce? Not about the mating process but the way they grow from eggs to shrimplets? Does the female shrimp deposit the shrimps' eggs into the water when they are ready? or does she let them out to let them "mature"?
Reason i asking this is recently spotted some super small , let's say living organism that moves similar to a shrimP? I discovered it at a stalk of plant in my shrimp-only tank. Those that can grow very long de. Some got detached from the pot so i just tied them to a Driftwood and see how it goes. But yesterday night saw the "living organism" and some small small white white stuff. Won't really associate to my common knowledge of eggs. Instead, it looks more like decaying food, those with bristles growing around the food. Is that a possibility of eggs? My HP don't have a macro mode, don't have a digital camera as well so can't take pics.
Anyway, since i'm already posting. what do you guys do about decaying food? they dun seem to finish the food i leave for them. and after one day or so, bristles grow around the food, regardless of wafer, flake or pellet. Do i scoop them out and prevent ammonia from building up? or do i let the shrimps do their jobs?

OK, my shrimps inside are CRS, cherry, rocket shrimp and bee shrimp.
They are in a 1ft cube tank, with hanging filter. The tank is being cooled by a fan.
probably those micro organisms which i have in my tank too... caused by uneaten algae wafers by cherry shrimps in my tank.. also shows your tank is clean, IMO..

haha, to me not that clean leh, i always got to clear the uneaten portion away~
You need to start by feeding the shrimp less and have more time inbetween feedings. For example, 1 waffer instead of 2 and every other day instead of everyday. This will help keep your tank cleaner and stop the things other than your shrimp from growing. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi, I was jsut wondering bout how the shrimps have eggs. I mean like will the eggs be fertilised after the shrimps have the eggs or they are fertilised then only they have eggs
the females will have eggs in the ovaries....at the head(whitish stuff)...and then later when it is fertilised, will "travel" to the saddle of the female shrimp at the bottom.
Then how come sometimes the eggs will not be released? Its already fertilised
the female will store the eggs until they are ready to be hatched...when the shrimplets hatch inside the female, the female cherry will release it.
They don't hatch inside the female and the female don't lay the eggs. The shrimp eggs are carried externally by the female shrimps and the shrimplets hatch out and are subsequently released and swim off freely.![]()
