New shrimp in town or so I heard, anyone had experience with them? I bought a couple of them, so far they are doing well in my tank with no interference by other fishes, perhaps given their relatively large size. The one thing I like about them is that they swim about pretty alot. The link on the photo page indicates they are algae eaters, but I just like to verify with the rest of you if this is true and not similar to the behaviour of the pinnochio shrimp or mosquito shrimps that does eat plants.

Actually Y618, C328 and san aquatic are selling them. From what I gathered from azgarden website, they do not eat plants, but algae. Also, they are known to swim around as compared to crawling around. Lastly, they do look like mosquito shrimps, but they lack the distinct hunch on their body.

I had a couple of red nose. And yes, they do prefer to swim and stay mostly at mid to top level as compare to my malayans or yamatos which prefer to crawl and stay at the bottom. As for eating plants, they do munch on certain plants.

so far no problems with my malayans, but then again they swim alot, especially when the lights are out. By far, I think this is my favourite shrimp.

What plants in particular are in their diet, got to take note of this as they are in a heavily planted tank.

A friend of mine bought several of these recently from C328 and they feed on Tetrabits. Yes, some of them do appear to prefer being pelagic rather than being benthic.

They're one of the few shrimps that can actually swim. It doesn't just hop around like yamatos, cherries or CRS if you observe them. It would be normal. Things to look out for is when they swim funny... i've seen one or two die when they lose ability to stand on their legs, and just whirl around in a circle.
