    Hi folks,

I have a spare tank and want to add live and color into it, so thinking of getting some nice exotic looking guppies....

Anyone know or recommend a good place to get those pretty guppies, not those common types....maybe an expert can educate me something about these little colorful ones....

    Thanks!

    Eman,

either you can go for guppies (There is a place call Guppy Centre) or Endlers.

    Endlers are very nice too.

Endlers, any day. I had bad experience keeping guppies, as one died, many followed if you don't take out the dead fish out in time. Another thing, good filter, I cannot emphasise the importance of having one with them.

I have 2 tanks dedicated to 2 different stains of Endlers... So, I would choose Endlers... Furthermore, Endlers are smaller in size...

You can try EcoCulture or Far East Aquatics. They should still carry at least a strain or 2... Eco might even bring in Endlers for you if you ask nicely.

Or you can go C328. They have a strain and at less than $10 a pair, it is the cheapest around...

    I'm crypt collecting... Starting cheap, now have Cryptocoryne beckettii, C.beckettii var petchii, C.crispatula var.balansae, C.griffithii(Melted! ), C.nurii, C.parva, C.pygmaea(Melted! ), C.tonkinensis(Melted! ), C.walkeri, C.wendtii 'Brown', C.wendtii 'Green', C.wendtii 'Green Gecko', C.wendtii 'Tropica' and Cryptocoryne x willisii

Oh, juggling is hard work, man!...

Eco and Far East would have them between $10 to $30 a pair... Different strains would command different prices.

You can also send an email to swampriver.com (if I didn't get the name wrongly!) and see if you can arrange for them to send you fish from the USA. You can ask Eco about this too.

Maybe you want to hold on to your thoughts and check this out.

    4th National Guppy Competition
    Venue: Bukit Timah Plaza
    Date: 26th May to 28th May 2006

There should be guppies and endlers for sale. As for price wise, show quality breeds would cost a premium but generally, most should be affordable, IMHO.

However, some people just simply do not believe in paying that kind of price for the perceived "longkang" fish.

I would suggest keeping the different strains separately.

As for how many pairs... I can't give any suggestions... I have more than 120 in my 2ft tank, but it is 18" tall and 18" wide!... And I had been discovering new babies weekly...

Yeah, best to keep different strains separately. Don't like for them to start cross breeding and possibility of losing the original strains eventually.
